• It all started with a click

    It was with great enthusiasm that on saturday, May 29th, we opened the first of many exhibitions to come, in our Casa Improvável gallery. With the photos of Marco as a starting point, we want everyone to understand what the Azores Atlantic Surfers is all about, how it started and, most importantly, that it only takes love and commitment to make dreams come true.

    One of the best kept secret islands in the world, the Azores, an autonomous region of Portugal, is an archipelago in the mid-Atlantic. The islands are characterized by beautiful landscapes, fishing villages, green pastures, happy cows and us. The Azores surfers.

    Born out of the island, Ã represents the Azores, love for ocean waves and Atlantic island life. A community of friends and like minded people that, through art, surf, music and photography, share their love and island vibes with everyone visiting. From the Azores to the world.

  • Gravitas - Surf is Science exhibition

    Once again in our "house" Casa Improvável, we had the pleasure to present the exhibition of our friend João Brilhante. One of the first surfers and shapers on the island, with an unique and different approach to surfing and surfboard making, mixing science, art and philosophy. Check out more of his work

  • Shaping boards with people we love

    We collaborate with friends, producing and making surfboards we love. Our interest is to bring different concepts and approaches to surfing, always with love for the waves behind it. If you are interested in a different kind of surfboard, let us know, we are always happy to share other views about wave riding, and create the surfboard you always dreamed of.

  • Rent different surfboards and go surfing

    We are not a surf brand or surf school in Azores, but we have some people we love that can help you with anything you need. From trying different surfboards, or getting a private surf lesson mixed with science. Let us know what you are looking for and we point you in the right direction. Just bring a bottle of wine after when you meet us.

  • It's not only Nazaré

    Just this year, some of the best big wave surfers, from Portugal and the world, were in São Miguel island to surf (some of them for the first time), the waves in Praia da Viola. An unknown world class big wave with a tubular shape that makes the dream come true, for the big wave hunters. We will be thrilled to witness the first big wave contest on our island soon, we believe. All the conditions are already here.

  • Azorean identity

    Hard to define, or not enough justice made when you try to describe it, we would say that the Azorean identity is related to all the forces of nature expressed in this island. Volcanoes, earthquakes, storms, big waves, the natural beauty of the island, all of these mirrored in the way we live and behave. When you are here, you become part of the island, and the island will be a part of you.

    We are Azores lovers and surfers, sharing our experience and island vibes, with everyone, locals and the ones visiting. Find us in Pópulo, Santa Bárbara, Monte Verde and Mosteiros. We are a group of friends that believe surfing is all about having fun, making new friends and keeping the stoke alive for a couple of waves.

    In collaboration with some shapers and friends we admire, we produce special limited edition surfboards, that reflect our approach on surfing and island life. A pleasure for both sides, doing what we love... art and surfboards.

    Old cameras, new cameras, expensive or disposable ones, and even smartphones. What we love the most is to get a frame or glimpse of the reality and beauty that surrounds us everyday. We love images, printing, publishing, playing with them, and most importantly to share them with everyone.
